Collecting your Information

You may provide us with information about yourself by:

  • completing forms associated with any tests you may request from us
  • otherwise communicating with us via text message, telephone, email or letter.

How we use your personal information

We process your information in order to allow us to

  • Provide services to you including testing, providing results, and arranging treatment where required.
  • Fulfill our contractual data reporting requirements
  • Fulfill national data reporting requirements
  • To carry out service evaluations to allow us to improve the services we offer or to develop new services
  • To assess whether any information indicates a safeguarding concern

Sharing your information

In order to provide services to you it is necessary for us to share your information with selected partners.

Your personal identifiable information may be shared with

  • Our laboratory - Manchester Medical Microbiology Partnership (MMMP) a partnership between our parent organisation Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) and Public Health England (PHE).
  • Treatment providers - This maybe a specific location or we maybe able to offer you a choice. We will inform you before sharing your information with the relevant treatment provider.
  • Our parent organisation Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT)
  • We may need to share your information with other organisations to comply with legal or clinical requirements examples include but are not limited to:

    • If you have an infection which needs treating and we cannot contact you by other means we may contact your GP
    • If we need to employ the use of interpretation services to communicate with you.

We may also need to use your data as part of reporting processes to: 

  • Commissioning organisations (the ones who ask us to provide the services available).
  • Partner Organisation
  • As part of Freedom of Information requests

We take steps to ensure data contained within these reports cannot be used to identify individuals. Any reports generated from information collected by us including any information volunteered by you will not contain personal details.

Privacy when communicating with us

Your results are provided to you using the information you supply when completing your test. If for any reason you need to amend this information after sending your test back to us please email or call our office on 0800 046 1303.

SMS (Text Messaging)

When we send you messages our number appears as NHS 

If you choose to receive your results by text message we will if possible send a text message to the number you provide on the form enclosed within your test. 

We have no way to verify your phone number is anything other than what you provide to us, for this reason it is important you ensure your number is legible and accurate. 

As your number is not verified until we speak to you via phone and confirm your identity the majority of our text messages are generic standard messages that do not contain any personal information. 

Many mobile phone handsets provide a preview of incoming messages while the handset is locked.To protect your privacy we recommend disabling this feature  

Your specific handset will have instructions on how to achieve this. The following generic instructions should provide some guidance

For iOS products (iPhones, iPads etc)

  1. Go to "Settings"
  2. Go to "Notifications"
  3. Set "Show Previews" to "Never"

For Android products

  1. Go to "Settings"
  2. Go to "Sound & Notification"
  3. Set "On the lock screen" to "Hide sensitive notifications"


Our telephone line is free and confidential.
In order to discuss your personal details or results our staff will be required to confirm your identity. As staff are limited to the roles they fulfill it may not always be possible to connect your call to the relvant department imediately and we may need to call you back


When we communicate with you via letter we will send letters out in envelopes marked private and confidential

The content of letters including results or other information will be identifiable to you as it will contain your name an a minimum

The exception to this is when we fulfill your request for a home testing kit which is sent in a tamper evident plastic envelope similar to one you might receive from an online purchase

General Information

Purchasing a test through us

If you purchase a test through the transaction will be carried out via PayPal and as such will be subject to the PayPal Privacy Policy.

We take measures to protect your data on is hosted on a secure server housed in the UK

Due to the open architecture of the internet, we do not consider the internet to be completely secure. If you choose to send information to us through any of the forms available on this website or via email you do so at your own risk as we cannot guarantee that this information will not be intercepted, changed or otherwise reach us safely.


As an NHS service we take confidentiality very seriously.
Our staff are limited to accessing only the information required to complete their role
All staff are subject to a strict confidentiality agreement and are required to undertake annual training to ensure they understand the confidentiality of your data.
