About Ruclear
We're an independent UK sexual health information resource — not a clinic, not a GP service. Our job is to give you accurate, plain-English information so you can make confident decisions about your sexual health.
Why We Built Ruclear
Sexual health information shouldn't be confusing, clinical, or hard to find. We built Ruclear because we believe everyone in the UK deserves access to clear, non-judgmental, and evidence-based sexual health guidance — for free.
Whether you're worried about symptoms, considering a test, or researching treatment options, our guides are written to help you understand your situation and take the right next step. We cover everything from chlamydia and gonorrhoea to HIV treatment, hepatitis, and more.
With over 479 published guides, Ruclear is one of the most comprehensive sexual health resources available in the UK. Every guide is written using NHS, BASHH, and BHIVA clinical guidance as primary sources.
Who Writes Our Content
Our Editorial Standards
The sources we rely on
Every guide on Ruclear is written using primary clinical sources: NHS guidelines, British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) guidance, British HIV Association (BHIVA) clinical guidelines, and peer-reviewed publications. We do not copy or paraphrase commercial sources.
How content is reviewed
New guides are reviewed for clinical accuracy before publication. We aim to reflect current NHS and BASHH guidance. Where content covers treatment options or prescription medicines, we link directly to the relevant NICE or BASHH resource so you can verify the information yourself.
How often we update
Guides are reviewed regularly and updated when clinical guidance changes. Every article page shows a "Last reviewed" date so you always know how current the information is.
payments How Ruclear Is Funded
Ruclear is completely free to use. We fund our editorial work through affiliate partnerships: when you click a link to an at-home STI testing kit or online prescription service and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Our editorial content is written independently of our commercial partners. We do not accept payment for editorial coverage, and affiliate relationships do not influence which products we recommend or how we write about them.
This disclosure is provided in accordance with the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) guidance on affiliate marketing and the ASA/CAP Code on advertising.
