
- Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection;
- Untreated chlamydia can cause infection in other parts of the body, sometimes with damage or serious long-term complications such as infertility
Symptoms
Most people do not have symptoms but if you do have any symptoms make an appointment at your local sexual health clinic.
In women
- A vaginal discharge that is different to usual
- The need to pee more often
- Pain on peeing or during sex
- Pain in the pelvis or lower abdomen
- Any irregular bleeding between periods or after sex
In men
- A discharge from the tip of the penis
- Pain and/or burning when peeing
- Irritation at the tip of the penis
- Painful swelling of the balls ( testicles)
